One of my favorite gifts to give at a baby shower is a baby food mill.  There is nothing more important than feeding your child the same nourishing foods that you eat to start developing healthy palates.

When my babies turned one and were really ready to start with solids I used a baby food mill to puree small portions of the foods my family was eating.  From the get go, whatever my family ate, my baby did as well.  This has really helped in getting them accustomed to eating the same foods my family does.

A baby food mill is so easy to use and a cinch to clean up.  I used a mini food processor as well, but the clean up alone often had me reaching for my food mill.  What I love about this version is that it comes with a carrying case.  It makes it so easy to throw it in the diaper bag and have it with you wherever you go.  Whether your at a restaurant or visiting family, it’s convenient to pull out, puree a small portion and feed your baby.

Having a food mill saves you money from having to buy jars of food and really… have you tasted those baby foods in a jar?!!  Trust me, your baby can tell the difference from homemade food and processed baby food in a jar as well.  I’d rather get my baby accustomed to real food versus processed.

Here’s your chance to win your own baby food mill.

That’s right.  Even if you’re not pregnant I’m sure you know someone who is.  In order to win, here are the rules…

I had one of those with all my kids, great gift idea too!! I loved it as it was easy to bring to the table and just puree some food that we were eating for the baby.

One thing my son loved was roast chicken pureed and mixed with a bit of olive oil and sea salt (to get it the right texture) and pureed sweet potatoes!! He still loves both those foods now that he eats solids.

This is great! A blast from the past! Had one of these when my daughter was exploring table food, almost 36 years ago! We milled everything from spaghetti (her fave) to carrots to apples. Hardly ever used jar baby food. Love it!

I used a baby food for all my six. They rarely if ever saw a baby food jar. I recently found a Kidco food mill at a thrift store for 99 cents. It’s going to see use now for the next month maybe more with my daughter in law, grandson and granddaughter (7 months) living with us until it’s safe to go back to Japan. They are here as Japan evacuees from Military base.
